Summer Strength and Speed Training

Lady Bronco athletes,

Coach Ricketts will be running a speed and strength training this summer in the gym. It starts on Tuesday, 5/29 from 11-1. All other weeks this summer will be Monday-Thursdays from 11-1. The girls will workout separate from the guys. You will make some MAJOR gains in strength and power and your speed and agility if you commit to attend. Use this summer to improve yourself, not to loose yourself!

Please consider attending this.  It is free and good for any sport including cheer.  Some of the most common injuries for female athletes are knee injuries.  Females are actually more susceptable to knee injuries than the guys due to the differences in build.  Strenthening the leg musceles is a great way to prevent knee injuries, so I strongly encourage all that can to attend this training when possible.

Summer Soccer Camp

BACS will have a summer soccer camp on June 18-22 (except Wednesday) from 5:30 PM thru 8:30 PM for 6th grade thru 12th grade students.  We are also offering a session for kindergaren thru 5th grade on the same days from 8:30 AM until 11:30 AM.  It is being taught by professional trainers from the Ade Youth Soccer Academy from West Houston.   Adebisi Adeniran is the Cypress Boys coach and a former professional player and conducts summer camps at several Christian schools throughout the area.  There are registration forms in the school office.  You can either turn the form in there, mail it in, or take it to the first day of the camp.  If we can't get at least 10 participants, this may be the last year to have a soccer camp for a while.  It is not listed on the school athletic calendar or any other school publication currently, so please pass the word to others, especially the junior high students who may be interested in soccer.

Practice Dress

In order to insure that we are following school dress code and looking more like a BACS team at practices please help me make sure that the girls wear Tee shirts reflecting school colors (blue, red, white, even grey) and either PE shorts or uniform shorts.  Tee shirts can be PE Tee shirts, and warm ups are also acceptable in lieu of shorts, but I do prefer that they reflect school colors.

I have been told several times by different people to make sure that our girls are not rolling up their shorts at the waist and it seems that some girls are not choosing to follow this rule periodically.  In order to insure that this does not happen again, Surette Smutts will do periodic inspections and if anyone is caught, they will have to miss the next game.

The girls have complying fairly well with making sure that they wear shin guards and soccer cleats to practices and games.  Matching colors or particular brands are not terribly important, but these are items that parents need to provide to play the game safely.

Soccerfest Pictures

The note below is from Houston Christian High School.  They hosted the recent Soccerfest tournament.

We want to thank you for participating in SoccerFest 2011. We had a photographer (actually a volunteer parent with amazing photography skills) onsite during the weekend and he has created a website to download photos, complements of SoccerFest. Feel free to pass along to your parents and players. Please see below for instructions and enjoy!
